Executive Chairman

Mr. Mark Morabito has 20 years of public market experience with a strong focus on junior mining and extensive experience in capital raising and corporate development. He is the Founder of King & Bay West, a merchant bank and technical services company that specializes in identifying, funding, developing and managing resource-based opportunities. He has been the principal driving force behind numerous resource development companies including Alderon Iron Ore Corp., Excelsior Mining Corp and others. He has raised over $700 million to finance their development and attained two NYSE Listings. He led the completion of a transaction with China’s largest steel company (third largest in the world) in its first foreign investment for a $400 million investment to support the development of a Canadian iron ore mine.

Mr. Morabito has a BA from Simon Fraser University and completed his J.D. at the University of Western Ontario.


CEO & Director

Mr. Jim Scott has 25 years of flight operations experience in North America, Europe and Asia.  Jim also has a leadership background in project start-ups, leading organizations, and financial oversight. He was a senior planner for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games involved in organizational structure and the founder and initial chairperson for a private pension program in Canada that currently has CDN$120 million in assets.  In addition, Jim served for two years in-charge of an investigative unit in Canada that dealt with securities and corporate offences.

Mr. Scott holds a Canadian Airline Transport Pilots Licence endorsed for the Fokker F28, the Boeing 747-200/300/400, and has over 9,000 hours flying experience. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree that includes the study of aviation and aircraft performance, and a Master’s Degree specializing in cybercrime. For his ongoing professional and community service, Jim has received the British Columbia Lieutenant Governor Award for Meritorious Service and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.



Mr. Carlo Valente has 19 years of international business development, corporate advisory, M&A, corporate finance and accounting experience. He has served as CFO of five different publicly listed and private companies, leading all financial reporting, management reporting, budgeting, treasury, financial modeling, merger integration, IT system implementation, tax, insurance and administrate matters. He had significant involvement in the raising of over CDN$200 million in capital. He was with PwC for 15 years in both Canada and Europe.

Mr. Valente has a BBA from Simon Fraser University and obtained his CA designation in 2000. He is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.


VP Strategic Planning & Cost Control

Mr. Dix Lawson has over 30 years of strategic, operational, and tactical planning experience in managing and leading projects and programs in the private and public sectors. He has worked on several large projects and programs covering a range of equipment projects of $50 – $80 million, building infrastructure project of $50 million and a supply chain re-engineering project with savings valued at $200 million. He was the Project Manager of Security for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

Mr. Lawson is a former Canadian Army Officer and is an officer of the Order of Military Merit. He has a Master’s Degree in Project Management, maintains his currency as a certified Project Management Professional, and has an applied Military Science Diploma, from Cranfield University, Shrivenham, UK.


VP Legal and Corporate Secretary

Mr. Olen Aasen is a practicing corporate and securities lawyer with over 10 years’ experience in corporate, securities and regulatory matters. He has been the Corporate Secretary and VP Legal of multiple Canadian and US listed companies. Mr. Aasen did his undergraduate studies in the finance program at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business and obtained his J.D. from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the British Columbia Bar. Mr. Aasen was appointed to the 2016 Legal 500 General Counsel Powerlist of Canada.



Mr. Stephenson brings over 20 years of Senior Management and Executive experience in the ULCC sector, having been instrumental in the rapid and substantial growth of Wizz Air and EasyJet, two highly successful European ULCCs. In 2006, he joined Wizz Air as Chief Commercial Officer and became Executive Vice President in 2009 until 2016 when he stepped down. During his 10-year tenure with Wizz Air, the fleet grew from 6 to 75 aircraft, revenue grew to cover €1.5 billion and net profit margin grew to over 15%. Previously, he was with EasyJet from 1997 to 2006 as Head of Revenue Management, Head of Network and Revenue Management and Acting Commercial Director. While at EasyJet their fleet grew from 3 to 100 aircraft and became one of Europe’s most profitable airlines. He was with MVA Consultancy from 1991 to 1997 as a consultant in the transport and financial fields. He a holds B.Sc in mathematics from the University of Brighton.


Over the last 20 years, Mr. Grant has been directly involved in raising more than US$800 million in aviation and transportation capital while carrying out key financial, operational and leadership roles in the airline, transportation, logistics and private equity sectors.  Mr. Grant was employed at Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, a cargo airline, passenger charter airline, and aircraft lessor. During Mr. Grant’s tenure as Chief Financial Officer, the equity market capitalization of the Company grew by over 250% to over $1.5 billion.   Subsequently, Mr. Grant was the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer of United Maritime Group LLC, a Jefferies Capital Partners LLC portfolio company, where he led an operational transformation that significantly grew earnings and margins, and executed the successful sale of three operating divisions. Mr. Grant also held progressively senior roles at American Airlines and Canadian Airlines.  Mr. Grant is currently Managing Partner of Headhaul Capital Partners LLC, a New York based private equity investment firm he co-founded in 2014 which specializes in acquiring and building businesses in the Transportation, Logistics & Distribution industries.  Mr. Grant holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from Wilfred Laurier University and an MBA from Simon Fraser University


Mr. Stan Gadek has more then 20 years in the airline industry and has extensive airline experience with a low cost carrier. He was past President, CEO, CFO of Sun Country Airlines where he grew revenue and sales, reduced costs and improved customer service, resulting in four consecutive ears of profitability. He expanded Sun Country’s network to 34 domestic and international destinations and developed a vacation travel division resulting in additional revenue diversification. He was also the past CFO of AirTran, a 140 Boeing 737 scheduled airline which was sold to Southwest Airlines in 2011 for over US$1.3 billion in cash and common stock. He has experience with other notable carriers including United Express, Continental, and Northwest.


Mr. Réjean Bourque has over 35 years of experience in managing large scale and innovative financing, risk and insurance transactions. He currently serves as Senior Vice President of Marsh Canada – a global leader in insurance broking and risk management. He was previously the VP, Investor, and Government Relations with Bombardier. He has served on the board of Directors of a subsidiary of GE Capital for 6 years and has been on the boards and executive committees of the Ste-Anne Hospital’s Foundation (Veterans) for 14 years and Fondation Madeli-Aide for 13 years.


Mr. John Sutherland has decades of experience in finance and operations as a director or officer of publicly listed companies in transportation, technology and mining. He has taken 12 companies public and has raised over $250 million in equity and debt financing. He has served on numerous public boards listed on the TSX.V, TSX and NYEX Amex exchanges as an independent director, specializing in audit committee and corporate governance duties with specific expertise in mergers and acquisitions.


Ms. Deborah Robinson has over 25 years of diverse Human Resource experience in working in dynamic, changing environments on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and start-up companies. She is Founder and President of Bay Street HR, was the Executive Director at CIBC World Markets and held senior HR positions at Fidelity Investments and American Express in Boston and New York City. She is a graduate of Rotman School of Corporate Governance, Institute of Corporate Directors, ICD.D, and Institute of Corporate Directors, Human Resources Committee Certification. She is also a Director of VIA Rail where she is a member of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee, and Governance, and Risk Committee.


Mr. Mark Lotz has over 22 years of significant knowledge in the mineral industry and related securities businesses. His experience with publicly listed companies and corporate securities having held several CFO positions and having served as a senior executive officer for two Vancouver based securities firms and a financial compliance officer for the Vancouver Stock Exchange. He was a Member of the Board of Examiners of Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C., and author of provincial tax and accounting exams He holds a Bachelors of Business Administration with a joint major in Economics from Simon Fraser University.



Mr. Mike Harris was the former Premier of the Province of Ontario from 1995 – 2002. After leaving politics, he formed a consulting firm and began serving numerous coporate entities in an advisory capacity. He is also a Senior Advisor at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. He serves as a Director on a number of public and private boards and sits on a number of corporate advisory boards including private equity funds such as EnerTech Capital, Beringer Capital, and Sterling Financial Group. He is the Senior Fellow for the Fraser Institute, a leading Canadian economic, social research and education organization and Director for the Manning Centre for Building Democracy.


Mr. Ed Wegel has over 30 years’ experience in the airline industry and aviation investment banking. He is currently the President of AVi8 Air Capital, an aircraft leasing company and past President and CEO of Eastern Air Lines Group. He was the former Chief Restructuring Officer, CEO and Chairman of Tavelogix and former Senior VP of Corporate Development for Mesa Air Group. He obtained his MBA in Finance from the University of Northern Colorado and is an honors Graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in Engineering.


Mr. Don Sorochan is a lawyer at Miller Thomson LLP and has been with the firm since 1971. His practice has included providing aviation regulatory, acquisition and litigation legal services to air carriers, constitutional and criminal law; regulatory law; commercial, construction and securities litigation as well as anti-corruption and international governance. He is a member of the founding Board of Directors of the Justice Institute of British Columbia and was a member of the Task Force appointed by the Attorney General of British Columbia to establish the B.C. International Commercial Arbitration Centre.


Mr. Jerry Presley is the founder and CEO and President of Manterra Technologies. He served in the RCAF and went on to work for Canadian Pacific Airlines in Airline Operations Flight Operations He pursued a a thirty-five-year career as a consultant in international business, corporate finance and advanced technologies with particular emphasis on aviation, manufacturing, travel, recreation and the financial sector. He serves on various foundations and community service organizations and is also a member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and the Canadian Forces Sports Hall of Fame. He has an engineering degree from the Royal Military College of Canada.


Mr. Les Dakens has over 30 years of experience working in human resources for top-tier companies and is widely recognized for his leadership in developing best practices as one of North America’s top human resource professionals. He serves as Managing Director and Partner at My Next Season Canada, an organization which advises transitioning executives. Previously, Mr. Dakens held numerous senior management roles, including Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Maple Leaf Foods Inc., Senior Vice President, People with Canadian National Railway, and North American Vice President of Human Resources at H.J. Heinz Company.


Jetlines employs the servicers of several airline subject market experts (“SME”). These persons are either employed part-time by Jetlines or are retailed in contract or consulting roles. The intent is to bring many of these experts into Jetlines in fulltime employment at a later date.
